Arrival in Sydney

2 days after I departed in Eindhoven, I arrive in Sydney. The sun is rising over the Harbour Bridge and skyscrapers take of their pyjama's. Am I overdoing it here, lyrically? No way, check this photo from the plane!

On the first day we go to carli's university's open day. Glass artists are molding wonderful sculptures. On the next day, we go into the big city (much to carli's dismay, but it's my needed shot of nostalgia), go into carli's old neighbourhood, and take some photos of things other people don't see.

Narita

I had about 8 hours between my flights in my transit at Tokyo Airport. Since Tokyo was about 1,5 hours away (!), I decided to have a little break at Narita, a town 15 minutes from the airport. There was not much to see tourist-wise, apart from some somewhat old temples, but the scenery of contemporary Japan was exciting enough from me as a photographer. It turned out to be about 28 degrees, extremely humid (so much so it could rain without clouds above my head!) and I was carrying about 10 kilograms of handluggage... My photo tour became an army drill that got me all sweating back to the airport, where a afforable shower was very welcome, but the prospect of my still-sweaty clothes (i didn't have any extra clothes in my handluggage) were not so much.

Voila, suburbian japan:

they like pink...
...and they like vending machines...

this is where I got my hair cut! (and "beard" shaven and throat almost cut)

...and I ate all this sushi! (apart from the freaky octopus thingy)

Well I kinda do, on the 24th of September to be precise. But for now, I pretend I don't know. Almost 3 years ago I left on an adventure to Australia. This time I have a clearer view of what I will find: my love, finishing her last semester at SCA (Sydney College of Arts). This is the first photo series, depicting my departure from the Netherlands.

Visiting Oirsbeek

Walking around near the "Maria-grot" (Maria cave) and the small forest in Oirsbeek. The old and familiar is turning into a dreamy myth... am I getting old?
